Jane Austen

I greatly enjoy the novels of Jane Austen, but this weekend we are also enjoying movies based on those novels. Last night my younger daughter and I watched Sense and Sensibility, she knows she is named after Emma Thompson who plays Elinoir. Tonight I am watching Pride and Prejudice with my older daughter, who is currently reading the novel. We plan on discussing the differences between the novel and the movie. I would also like to find other versions on these movies so we can see a different view point.

Every now and again you hear someone ask "if you could have lunch with anyone, alive or dead who would it be?" At this moment it would be Jane Austen!

Small Quilt

I finished this quilt a while ago (still need to take a finished picture). I want to sew it again, but I can't locate the pattern. It was an online freebie....anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks!

Wonky Log Cabin Square

While waiting for DH to come home from work, I decided to stitch up this great freebie pattern. Here are two pictures of the same square, just turned a different direction. For this pattern or other great patterns visit http://365quiltblocks.blogspot.com/

Next quilt square

I was reading a blog and this is a recent pattern she posted....I'm going to try it out. I just love Log Cabin patterns and this does look interesting!

Hopefully I will have a few minutes tomorrow to sew this up so I can see how it looks!

4" Quilt Square

I'm teaching 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in the spring how to quilt. I'm experimenting with different patterns using scrap fabric to see what pattern I will use to teach them.

Sunflowers

Last Thursday a dear friend gave me these beautiful flowers. I finally got around to taking a picture of them today, they are still beautiful!

Started a new project

I'm sick with the flu, so the project is slow to start, but I am working on Winter Snapperland by Bent Creek.

I am also hoping to start working on a few miniature dollhouse quilts and maybe a quilt to two for my daughter for Christmas for her American Girl Doll.

Will post pictures when I have progress to share!

Designing ideas

Last year my older daughter and I did some designing and even sold some of our patterns, I found it very time consuming with very little profit. I have some ideas swirling around in my head and I'm think about creating a few. Still haven't decided yet if I am interested in selling patterns again or just creating them for my own pleasure. Hoping to find some graph paper tomorrow and get some patterns planned out and then maybe stitch them up this weekend!

Sense and Sensibility

My favorite author is Jane Austen and my favorite book by her is Sense and Sensibility. I even wanted to name my younger daughter Elinoir, but extended family gave their opinions and in the end we decided to name her Emma, after Emma Thompson who played Elinoir in the movie version.

Here is a piece I stitched a few years ago, but finally finished into a bellpull.

Another picture

Ok here it is with the words on the signs!

English Garden

Well I thought it was finished until I looked at the picture and realized that I didn't put "seeds" on the signs, so I will have to do that to really be finished. Hopefully I can find an appropriate frame at the thrift shop!

SAL tonight

Come and sit and stitch along with me. I have CBS on in the background and I'm sitting in my comfy clothes and warm socks, stitching on "English Garden".

Quilted postcard

I made this postcard last year and mailed it to my mother. She only lives 30 minutes away, but it took several days to arrive....we are guessing that it made the rounds at the post office before arriving in her mailbox. It does cost extra to mail something like this and it does have to be hand-canceled, but it was worth it!

You can find out more about the designer and purchasing this pattern at http://quiltingcompanions.ning.com/

My Stitching blog

I haven't been very good about keeping my blogs up-to-date, but I'm going to try again. This time my blog with stick strickly with my stitching crafts! Today my daughters and I did some cross stitching. My younger daughter is stitching her name so we can make a placemaker, my older daughter is stitching a spider, and I'm trying to finish "English Garden" by Country Cottage Needleworks

Pictures to come soon!
